I don't typically do any political art, not to say I don't think or read about international affairs, but with the "election" in Iran, it made me think: Here is a modern, 21st century country, and there is a very high probability that the vote was predetermined AND manipulated voters to deter them from voting, amongst other things.
Their government and religious leaders are making moves to completely shut off all communication with the world to silence the voices of their residents and getting the word out with what is going on.
It is strikingly similar to what happened in 1979.
The people want to let the world know what is going on.
They fear taking another step backwards when there is so much forward momentum.
Paint BBS - 2h 1m Featuring my OC, Moore. His position in his story is most suitable for this subject, as he is a mediator and the leader for his small group of people, but at the same time a regular citizen outside of that circle of power.
I do not doubt that it happens in other countries - it's just considering how comparatively more modern Iran is with say, Zimbabwe.
They royally messed up either way, and we'll be finding out if they decide to save face and do it right(er) and admit to their faults, or if they blow this whole thing off and continue with more civil unrest. Only time will tell.
It is staggering and somewhat terrifying that some countries have such a vested interest in eliminating voter fraud, whilst others are so actively participating in it.
Strong piece. Equally strong message.

Desperté con la mano de un payaso en mis pantalones. Eso es lo que hice hoy.
...I think that the technology of the times is the beginning of the end of this kind of thing, though. The Iran government is doing it's best to keep their citizens from communicating but by dammit they couldn't keep them off of Twitter.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
